The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Pete Welland went through the entire development of Superstox from full-bodied Ford saloons of the 1930s and 40s via lowered and re-bodied ‘specials’ to the purpose built chassis with vestigial tin-ware that heralded the modern era, only ceasing regular Superstox racing, after 27 straight years, when the perceived need for a ‘factory built’ race car made his favoured home building techniques, if not obsolete, certainly hard to be truly competitive with. He has never owned a race car with a wing on it. By Paul Huggett.

Andy Smith’s Fifth World Final

50th Annual Knoxville Nationals
It is nine years since I last visited Knoxville, Iowa, for the highlight of the Sprint Car racing year – the Knoxville Nationals. During those nine years frankly not a lot has changed at the third-mile facility and in many respects this created a comfort factor-like meeting up with a long lost but good friend! You soon get reminded of the rather zany events that occur around the facility during Nationals week such as race cars being readied for action on every lot up and down the street and then those race cars being pushed up the public highway to the track! by Mike Greenwood
