Full Circle
Trevor Stroud was the subject of an ‘SC’ feature twelve years ago, raced Stock Rods, won some races, then he went fishing. Back in racing for a second spell, he’s hitting the high road with the National Hot Rods. Story Paul Huggett.

Cookman Webb, Racers turned Car Builders
It seems that if you intend to start yourself up in the business of building race cars, a decent starting point would be the Lightning Rod formula. Big cars that look good and decidedly heated racing which means that your average driver might well be in the need of more than one new car per season of competition! Story Matthew Bull

THORA at Goodwood
Vintage oval racers – mechanical and human – meet up on a sunny spring day. Added to Goodwood’s limited but atmospheric days of racing are a few other motorised goings on, including the one we were invited to in March, when, for the first time, cars and drivers from short oval racing’s UK past were able to mix – albeit not on track – with enthusiasts and competitive drivers from the various ‘Historic’ circuit race categories that suit the two and a half mile circuit.
Story Paul Huggett.

ASCAR 2003 Days of Thunder Preview
The 2003 ASCAR Days of Thunder Series has seen a lot of changes to the series. Between 22 and 24 cars are expected for the opening round, so we have published this guide to who is driving for which team, which number, and who their new sponsors are. Unfortunately it was too late to include everyone, but here’s our best shot….

In With the Outlaws
In 1998 it was decided to run the full range of engine options that would make any National spec car legal at the track, and Arena went along with the plan mooted by John Heynes, then promoting Northampton, to form a ‘second division’ Hot Rod championship with rounds run at several tracks possessing at least some National Hot Rod type cars. Ringwood’s Matchams Park Raceway had its own long standing Hot Rod division, and Alwalton Raceway, Peterborough, came in too. The whole deal was labelled, tongue in cheek, the ‘Outlaw’ Hot Rods. Story Paul Huggett.
