O’Dells – Number two in our ‘Running in the Family’ Series
You can see Steve O’Dell flinch imperceptibly as his mum suggests he might be getting a bit old for stock car racing. He may carry his nom de guerre as ‘The Veteran’ bestowed on him by your correspondent, with some pride, on the visor of his well-used Starlet stockie, but at 45 years old, and still racing in one of the most bruising divisions on the tracks, Steve has no intention of packing it in just yet; even if he did, the routine of keeping contact race cars in useable condition, tuning and tweaking, loading and heading off to tracks near and far would still be part of family life chez O’Dell: two sons both with burgeoning racing careers living at home would see to that.

Dean White
Working eighty hours per week and running a thriving car sales garage in Surrey, Dean White still finds the time to satisfy his need for high octane motorsport, through racing his ground-shaking V8 Sprint car. Pictured in this article is his latest addition, the Mr Kipling sponsored number 10 Sprint car, which, like every other racing car he has ever owned from Stock Rods to group A Hot Rods, is immaculately presented and arguably one of the best looking cars in short circuit racing today.

A New Man to Beat in the Group A’s
Currently setting the track alight at the Arena Essex oval in the Group A Hot Rods, is RTS graduate, Lee Rogers.
