The 34 year old family man trained in Agricultural engineering at nearby Plumpton College, and went on to expand his skills into construction plant maintenance and repair, became a top notch welder along the way – a very useful skill for any hands-on racer of course.

Denys Jones 1922 – 2011
Respected oval racing writer Denys Jones has died. He was 88. Better known to followers of the sport as ‘Man on the Terrace’, beginning in the early 1960’s, he was one of the few pioneer journalists that specialised in stock car racing.
