The major features for Short Circuit Magazine’s October issue include an in depth feature on Shaun Proudlock, who won the 2 litre Hot Rod World and wants into the National Hot Rod scene, where he will be just another in a line of undoubted talent moving into one of the premier UK oval formulas.
Richard Carter or the Jolly Jester, is a man who had raced Saloon Stock Cars, both 2 litre and 1300cc, plus Bangers, plus Rebels and is now in V8 Stock Cars. Kevin Wegg, in is own special style, interviews him.
Also featured is Jim Henson, alias the Doctor, who nearly let Jerry Fisher loose in his V8 Stock Car (had it not broken down on test day). Jim has made a full recovery from a mild heart attack earlier this year and is ready to go racing again.
There is also a brief preview to the 35th Hot Rod National Championship, featuring some classic old pictures by Mark Haddleton.
The big meeting report can only be the final Long Track World Final won by Frankie Wainman Jnr, and at Charlotte in America, we catch up with Indy cars racing on the oval, the Formula 2000 on the circuit, and Midgets racing on the small oval. A rather unique mixture, particularly as Indy racer Tony Stewart won the Midget Feature. We catch up on the other BriSCA F1 World Semi-Final at Birmingham, and the two Semi-finals for the BriSCA F2’s. Paul Huggett, and John Hyam provide the much talked about columns, whilst on a more technical side we look around Stuart Heynes superb Grand Prix Midget, dubbed the Venim Velocity. The attention to detail and finish is superb.
