Peasenhall Raceway – Gone, but oh, …. Those Summer Nights! Part 1
For many stadiums, a crowd of 3,000 spectators would do very nicely thank you very much. For a Grasstrack however, in the middle of the Suffolk countryside, where the local village only had a population of 400, it’s something of a minor miracle, but at its height, that’s exactly what happened at Peasenhall Raceway; but when you dig a bit deeper, it really is no surprise, for here was a Motor Club that for me, truly encompassed what racing should really be all about – fun, action-packed, affordable and free of politics!

National Championship Weekend.
August 13th/14th saw the 42nd staging of the National Championship Weekend at Hednesford Hills Raceway, with around 240 cars across five formulas arriving to contest no less than 43 races. As ever at this event, the Hednesford ‘bowl’ was packed full of transporters, caravans, motorhomes and tents even before the start of Friday practice.
The weather could not have been in greater contrast over the three days, with Friday being hot and dry, while much of Saturday was run in monsoon conditions until the evening. After overnight rain, Sunday dawned warm and dry and stayed that way despite black clouds hanging ominously over the raceway.
