It’s been a tough twelve months, but now it’s onwards and upwards. Time to put the truth to all the rumours and speculation that surrounded Spedeworth racing during 2005 thinks Spedeworth East Anglia’s boss, who talked to Paul Huggett in the first of our re-launched series that tries to get the answers to some of the hard questions in the sport.

2005 Best in Britain
This annual end of season blockbuster took place at Wimbledon on November 27 on a dry and cold evening and gave drivers their first chance to race on the widened Plough Lane track following the removal of the Speedway bends and the moving of the inside of the tarmac track inwards by about a car’s width. It was the usual four formula mix featuring National and Outlaw Hot Rods racing together on a mix of Hoosier and Avons, 2 litre Hot Rods, Superstox and 1300 Stock Cars. Although it was dry, a lot of work had been done on the track following the Banger World Final and this produced a fast racing surface.

Boys Firms up Plans for 2006
Britain’s newest recruit to the ranks of NASCAR is aiming for a Trans-Atlantic program of races for 2006, with plans in place to run selected SCSA rounds at Rockingham dovetailed with a second season in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series.
