Band of Brothers
We’d already got an overall title for this story of the three energetic balls of racing fire that are the Aylward brothers, when their dad came up with this one, only “Perhaps we should spell that Banned….” Well OK, John’s boys have had the odd period of enforced holiday from the tracks, but there is a lot more to these lads than that! Paul Huggett tells the tale.

January Jaunt
With violent winds and torrential rain filling up a lot of January’s weather quota, it was good to get a bit of sun and slightly less buffeting by the elements. By all accounts, the Saturday of this year’s ‘Brentwood replacement’ Expo, organised by Vince O’Connor and the Rolling Thunder Show team had the best selection of cars and racing on Arena’s tarmac, but we had opted for a Sunday visit, being easier from a photographic point of view.

Rick Panell – Taking a Lightning Rod a Lap Further
We drop in at his workshops just outside of the busy Essex seaside resort of Southend on Sea. The invitation came about after a few beers at the Rolling Thunder Show end of season social event at the Arena Essex raceway tavern.

Kenny Perry
Another year in Class Seven is an exciting prospect for Kenny Perry. His twin-Suzuki engined, Fiat Seicento bodied machine has only recently been reconstructed and the Spalding driver is delighted with it, as he prepares for his second season.

2007 NEXTEL Cup Preview
After a miniscule 11 weekends off from racing and with Daytona testing completed, the start of the 36 race 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup season is just around the corner with four major happenings in what the guys down ‘at the beach’ are tabbing as an exciting year for the sport and with the steps recently taken they very well could be right!

Hot Rod Retro
This month’s batch of piccies from the archives were taken 25 years ago, several of them from the camera of the late Vic Lakey, others by Paul Huggett, Russell McCormack – who now runs SA Oval magazine in South Africa – and one from Kevin Wegg, Ipswich based fan and itinerant writer.
