Description

For the main June 2000 feature we asked four well known names in oval racing, each involved as either racer, car constructor or both, all involved one way or another with ‘restricted’ formula racing to give us their opinion on what you should do to be truly prepared to win – even if you don’t have the money. George Polley, Steve Davies, Doug Raymond and Dave Rippard gave us lots of useful info – and to ignore the rumours of “that guys got a ten grand engine and new tyres every race.”

We look at Jason Cooper, who at just 17 years of age, has already jumped from white to star grade in the Superstox, and is competitive in anything he cares to turn his hand to….

Since RDC Promotions took over Dover Raceway , we return to the Coombe Valley to check out the first meeting under the new promoters.

Lots of news in the National Hot Rod Race Action Update, plus a feature on Gus Schrader and his race car number 5. He was known as the King of the Outlaws in the 1930’s, but the car had a very strange history, and no less than three owners were killed racing it. The car is now restored and is the property of Keith Elson.

Regular columnists Paul Huggett, John Hyam and Neil Clayton give their views, along with other regular items such as Scenes from the Past, Spin Off and Newsline sections.
