National Hot Rod World Final
After coming so close over so many years, local favourite Carl Boardley finally won his first National Hot Rod World Championship at a scorching Foxhall International Raceway, Ipswich on 1st and 2nd July. It proved to be the most controversial World Final for years with Carl colliding with Andy Steward as they raced side by side on the very last lap.

2006 Iswich Spedewekeekend
This year’s Ipswich Spedeweekend will go down as one of the hottest ever. Blazing sunshine and cloudless blue skies throughout the weekend sent temperatures soaring above 30oC on both days. The weekend saw some 39 races and featured no less than 440 cars!

Neglected, and yet arguably, this was the very thing which paved Somebody has finally written a book about old time Midget car racing, that neglected backwater of British oval racing. Neglected, and yet arguably, this was the very thing which paved the way for today’s myriad branches of our oval track sport. From the thundering BriSCA F1 Stock Car or super-fast National Hot Rod to the humblest Rookie Banger, they all owe a debt to those early pioneers.
