B.O.C. 2 – Mark Kelman’s new 2.0 Hot Rod is certainly a gas!
When Mark Kelman quit racing at the end of 2004, he was always pretty clear that he would, in due course, be back in the sport.
Thunder in the Mendips Hills!
With our Short Circuit test team running a Baby Grand again this year our first outing of the points season took us to a track that in all our years we have read about, seen pictures of and as it turns out driven past but never raced on, known as Bristol to some but, as the signs say, ‘Welcome to Mendips Raceway’.
Superstox at Wisbech
Here’s a selection of photos from 1986 to 1991 by well-travelled Scottish photographer Frank Love, who often seemed to be in the right place for those times when the rigours of open wheel racing on a demanding track overcame gravity!
Hard Work – but it is … ‘Just 4 Fun’.
Following on with our look at racer’s jobs, at the beginning of the year I bumped into Martin Robinson who I remember from the ’80s racing against us in the Stock Rods. The car sticks out, as it was a monster advert for Samsung, chatting away as you do and looking over their stall we got reminiscing! Martin and Sandra now run a small but very well organised embroidery business aimed almost entirely at the oval race market, and as racers themselves on a small budget they know what the racers want …. good quality at very little cost for items such as hats, overalls and race jackets.
Jim Turner Column
We welcome long time Short Circuit writer Jim Turner with a regular column to go alongside other long time writers Paul Huggett, John Hyam and Richard John-Neil.
